A DEDICATION OF A DREAM - The life of JASON JACKSON

Jason was born on 17th April 1974 at Fairfield Hospital, Sydney, Australia.

Born two months premature, 3 pound 5 ounces, Jason needed to be confined to a humidy crib for more than a month. Suffering from Jaundice and a liver malfunction, Jason was not expected to live. Three days after Jason was born, the priest came to give him his Last Rights. Luckily, Jason survived.

Jason's strength was tested yet again, at 18 months old, doctors discovered Jason was suffering from a rare form of bone cancer, the only one and first to be diagnosed with this crippling disease in Australia. Jason’s doctor, Professor Vowels, tried different forms of treatments, including Chemo and radiation therapy for two years. Finally, they found a treatment that worked on Jason's Cancer, causing him to be in and out of hospital for 7 years, at the same time affecting Jason's schooling.

During his childhood, Jason grew up in the Western suburbs of Sydney, where he lived for 10 years together with his parents and younger brother Glen.

Another day went by where Jason was on his way to have yet another Cancer treatment, however this particular day, he never forgot. For the first time, Jason heard “Don’t stop 'til you get enough” blaring from the car radio. It was this day that changed Jason forever. He fell in love with the song and soon after with the dance moves from Michael Jackson’s "Billie Jean” Television performance. The way he danced and moved was electrifying. This is what made Jason get up and try some moves of his own. From that moment on, Jason began to dedicate time to imitate Michael Jackson’s every move.

At the tender age of 8, it was evident that Jason was a performer. Years went by, where Jason would entertain his family and friends with a concert in his backyard, charging 20 cents to see him dance and perform.

During this testing time, it was his determination from a young age, love and support from his family that gave Jason the strength to get through his serious illness. At 10, doctors gave Jason a clear bill of health, meaning he was cured from the life threatening disease that almost killed him. The cancer Jason had for 7 years, had gone into remission and never come back to haunt him. This positive news meant his family could finally make the decision to move to New Zealand.

During the three years Jason lived in New Zealand, he attended Reparoura College. Jason’s first performance in front of live audience was in 1985 at a talent quest in Lake Taupo, New Zealand. Even at the age of 11, Jason was able to captivate audiences, without the bells and whistles that you see today. Just a young man, a stage and his dream. Jason won second place, his prize, a trip for his family to visit the circus.

Living in New Zealand for three years, meant Jason missed out on the chance to see his idol, Michael Jackson Live during his Bad Tour in 1987.

Starting off his first group, “Electric Vibes”, Jason was joined by two female dancers where they performed nonstop dance routines, to music from Michael Jackson which was clearly a success.

Jason, the performer that he is, wanted more. In the back of his mind he always envisaged going the extra step, dreaming up a way to create a tribute show, dedicated to keeping the music of Michael Jackson alive forever.

Inspired by the “man in the mirror” Michael Jackson, Jason Jackson portrayed his idol, forever pushing the envelope for something new that may delight, perhaps even shock, but always entertain his audience. You'll be amazed by the uncanny likeness to the King of pop himself!

Jason auditioned more dancers and renamed the group “The Jackson Exclusive”, a Tribute to Michael Jackson. This proved to be a huge success. Winning numerous talent quests, such as “Searching for a Star” and “Follow That Dream”, Jason was recognised as being famous in his own right, overwhelmed by the opportunities to perform at 21st birthdays, weddings and Bhamitsfas.

During 1995, Jason worked with various choreographers on his routines, while fine tuning his dancers to complete “The Jackson Exclusive” tribute show. After years of rehearsing; making the show bigger and better, it was time to give it a new name that depicted what it was about. In 1997 the show was renamed “The Jackson Experience, a Michael Jackson Dance Spectacular”, Staring Jason Jackson and The Jackson Dancers.

With the success from hundreds of shows, “The Jackson Experience” found themselves performing at Charities and special events. The Starlight Foundation, The Cancer Council of Australia, Variety Club Australia and The Australian Bridal Service Exhibitions are only a few.

Jason felt this was a great way to give something back, for he knows what it’s like to have suffered a serious illness; keeping positive and having hope, is what it’s all about. Jason dedicates his life to helping people, showing them no matter what they’ve been through; they can still achieve what they want to do in life.

Throughout the years, Jason has appeared at many of Michael Jackson’s album launches, exclusive clubs and venues such as The Enmore Theater; Sydney Super Dome and Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Performing since the age of 8 and song writing since 12, Through his musical influences; Prince, New Edition, R Kelly, Stevie Wonder and of course Michael Jackson, Jason has been able to direct his energy into song writing for himself, other artists and the chance to record his own album.

Jason’s R’n’B pop melodies, convey messages of life and love. His recorded tracks include; Five Reasons, Angelina, You look so good to me, with the newest release, She don’t love me like that.
